Chipper Joe Might Be Ok
This machine works OK as made, but I think it needs a mod and Sun Joe needs to get the builders to do some better quality control (item #2 below).

I voided the warranty by taking care of both of these issues.

1. The feed chamber is a bad shape for soft and flexible material. All it does is bounce around or form to the shape of the chamber that keeps it from entering the cutter. The paddle does no real good in this case. I made a mod from a piece of exhaust pipe to solve that. The pipe... more
Pros: Quiet, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Easy To Store
Cons: Difficult To Use, Bad Instructions

Does Not Do The Job
Thought that it would be able to handle up to 1-1/2 inch branches and it gets stuck on 1/2 inch stuff. Easy to take apart and after the tenth time or so you become very good at it to. Recommend you spend the extra money and get one that will do what they say it will. It took over eight hours to do what should have taken two. Feeding port too small for leaves to feed. Over all a total waste of my money and effort.
Pros: Price, Light Weight
Cons: Low Quality, Difficult To Use, Unreliable, Doesn't Do What You Said

Not Worth The $$
It is a complete waist of $$$. It wont chip anything bigger than your pinky finger and has a hard time with that.

Manufacturer Response
Brand Rep
Eddie,
We are sorry to hear about this! Is there a particular issue you were experiencing when chipping? Please contact our customer care department as 1-866-SNOWJOE (866-766-9563).
The CJ601E has a maximum cutting diameter of 1.5 inches, so it can handle an assortment of branches. This unit was designed with the home-owner in mind. Some harder woods, such as Hickory, Pecan, and Hard Maple, may require much more frequent sharpening of the blades. Please remember that keeping the blades sharp is crucial to being able to chip smoothly!
Hope this helps,
Snow Joe + Sun Joe
